Erskine would like to thank the Trades House of Glasgow Commonweal Fund for its generous grant of £1,488 towards the costs of a veterans’ activity break for members of the Erskine Reid Macewen Activities Centre (ERMAC). We are pleased to provide an update report on how this donation has impacted the veterans who took part.
The Veterans’ Woodwork Group (VWG) enjoyed a four day camp based at Rothiemurchus Lodge, Cairngorm, near Aviemore. They participated in a full programme of activities, including competing in a Space Race at the Escape Rooms, rowing on Loch Morlich, evening barbecues, walking the numerous tracks in the area, and the big finale: The VWG Karting Grand Prix!
Participants raised funds for catering and additional costs, including through holding event sales of items they had produced during their woodworking sessions.
The camp was a tremendous success – a fun and relaxing experience for everyone who attended. We asked them what their favourite thing was about the trip. These are some of the responses:
“Spending quality time with the VWG team in a tranquil setting.”
“Go-Karting - never done it before and I was good at it!”
“Fantastic food and great people made for a relaxing and thoughtful time.”
“Good food, good group!”
Thank You for Your Support
This activity break has been a fantastic addition to the Centre’s focus on wellbeing. Erskine is very grateful to the Trustees of the Trades House Commonweal Fund for the donation that made it possible by covering the majority of the costs. The ERMAC team in particular would like to thank the Trustees for their support with a project that gave much pleasure to the veterans who participated.
We would be delighted to welcome you to ERMAC for a visit. To arrange this, or if you would like any further information about ERMAC or Erskine, please don’t hesitate to contact Kirsten McTighe, Trusts & Foundations Manager, at kirsten.mctighe@erskine.org.uk or 0141 814 4613.
