Summer follows in her Veteran Grandfather's footsteps

Erskine Veterans are full of praise for an exceptional young lady called Summer Blyth from Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire.  Inspired by her late Papa, dedicated fundraiser, James Thomson, Summer decided to follow in his fundraising footsteps.

Over the years Veteran James, a former Territorial Army Reservist, worked hard to raise funds to help Veterans in The Erskine Home, Bishopton.

Such was the influence James had on his family, that his eight year old granddaughter, throughout the summer months, could be found in her local Tesco, at the local car boot sale and at her school Woodpark Primary, Lanark trying to raise money for Erskine.  This little girl’s determination is apparent by the fact she often bought items to sell out of her own pocket money.

Once the season had come to a close Summer had raised the fantastic sum of £626.

Erskine Community Fundraiser Jim Watret said: “What Summer has done throughout the school holidays has been absolutely amazing.  She has been so determined to get out, in all weathers, to raise funds for her Papa’s favourite charity.  She has proved she truly is one dedicated young girl. Everyone in Erskine applauds her efforts and cannot wait to see what she does next”.
