Santa Bungee Jump Volunteers Needed

Five of Scotland’s best-loved charities have teamed up for a very special Christmas collaboration.

The Catherine McEwan Foundation, Erskine, Kilbride Hospice, MND Scotland and Calum’s Cabin have come together to stage a Santa Bungee jump on December 10 at the Riverside Museum, Glasgow.

They’re calling for volunteers to sign up to take the plunge off the 160-foot platform, dressed as Santa (suit provided) for an experience you’ll never forget.

And of course, you’ll raise money for one of FIVE great causes in doing so – take your pick and sign up for the charity you would like to support.

Catherine McEwan Foundation founder Derek McEwan - who runs an annual Santa Bungee - has invited other good causes to get involved this year.

He said: “We know times are tough for everyone and as a charity we have always tried to collaborate.

“We felt our annual Santa Bungee was a great chance to get together with some other charities we love, inviting lots of people to dress up, get into the spirit of it all and JUMP!

“This way, one event helps so many more people – and surely Christmas is about us all coming together”.

Around 100 Santas are needed, so if you’ve always wanted to do something crazy AND raise money for good causes, here is your chance.

Each Santa is asked for a £20 deposit and to aim to bring in £200 in sponsorship.

Julie Macdonald, MND Scotland Head of Fundraising, said: “MND Scotland is excited to be a part of this year's Santa Bungee and we hope you will join us on December 10 for a truly exhilarating festive experience.

“Motor neuron disease (MND) has a devastating effect on families across Scotland but with your support this Christmas, we can continue to fund pioneering research and act as a helping hand of support, so people with MND can spend the time they have left making precious memories with the ones they love. Together, we will make time count.”

Kirsten Wols, Erskine’s Deputy Head of Fundraising, said: “Erskine is really looking forward to being involved in this year’s Santa Bungee. We are proud to be working alongside some fantastic charities to raise as much funds as possible for people across Scotland this Christmas.

“The Santa Bungee is a new and exciting event for Erskine supporters to get involved with and help us care for over 1000 Veterans this year. Are you brave enough to take the jump and help provide futures for our brave Veterans?”

Caroline Speirs of Calum’s Cabin said: “We are delighted to be part of the Christmas Santa Bungee, it’s wonderful having five charities joining forces to have a large event, helping and supporting so many deserving causes.

“For Calum’s Cabin the fundraising will make such a difference to the hundreds of families we support each year who have a child suffering from cancer. Thank you.”
