On Saturday 12th November residents and Veterans from the Erskine Veterans Village in Bishopton were honoured to be invited to watch the WoSFL Cup tie Petershill FC v Forth Wanderers. The match, held at Petershill’s home ground in Springburn, marked Remembrance with a minutes silence before the game. The match was a hard won victory on penalty kicks for Forth. The Petershill squad’s strips carry the name Erskine to raise awareness of the charity and the sterling work it does.
Man of the match was Terry Hewitt and he is pictured receiving his award from Erskine Veterans James Gillies and John Cashman. Erskine Community Fundraiser Jim Watret, who organised the event along with Petershill Chairman Peter Sutherland said: “The Erskine Veterans had a wonderful day out. The hospitality was excellent, and we can’t thank the Petershill Committee and squad enough for making the day so special for us. Remembrance is an extremely poignant time of year for our Veterans, and it was good to mark it with like-minded friends.
