Erskine partners with RGU students for charity fundraising evening

Erskine partners with RGU students for charity fundraising evening

A celebration of Scottish culture will take centre stage in Aberdeen next month as final-year Events Management students from Robert Gordon University host Kilts ‘n’ Canvas—a charity gala in support of Erskine’s new Veterans Activity Centre in Morayshire.

A group of final-year Events Management students from Robert Gordon University are set to support Scotland’s largest Veterans charity, as they bring together ceilidh dancing, fine art, and fundraising at Kilts ‘n’ Canvas.

The gala event will be held at Norwood Hall Hotel on Saturday, 5 April, in support of the Erskine Veterans Activity Centre North (EVACN), which opened in December 2024. Since its launch, the centre has already welcomed more than 200 Veterans, offering services ranging from counselling and art therapy to financial advice and community engagement opportunities.

Guests at Kilts ‘n’ Canvas will enjoy a ceilidh, buffet dinner, and a curated art exhibition featuring works created by Veterans supported by Erskine. Many of the pieces will be available for purchase in a charity auction, with all proceeds going directly to the organisation.

The evening will be hosted by broadcaster and former BBC presenter Rhona McLeod.

One of the Kilts ‘n’ Canvas team Kitty Begg said: "We wanted to create something that truly celebrates Scottish identity while giving back to those who’ve served our country. Kilts ‘n’ Canvas is a vibrant mix of art, music and community spirit—there’s nothing quite like it in Aberdeen."

Michael Parkes, Erskine’s Fundraising and Development Manager for the North, said: "Erskine is thrilled to once again collaborate with RGU's Events Management students. Their creativity and commitment are always inspiring, and this year's event promises to be something very special. The Veterans’ artworks are deeply personal and powerful—every piece tells a story."

Founded in 1916, Erskine remains Scotland’s foremost provider of care for Veterans and their families, offering nursing, residential and dementia care, supported living, and rehabilitation through its activity centres and Veterans Village.

Tickets for Kilts ‘n’ Canvas are available via the RGU Ticket Store. A Veterans’ discount is also offered—interested attendees can contact the organisers at kiltsncanvas@outlook.com
