Erskine Veterans' day out at STV studio

Erskine Veterans' day out as STV studio visit hits the headlines

Erskine Veterans were given the VIP treatment as they gained behind-the-scenes access to STV’s studios in Glasgow. News anchor John Mackay and weatherman Sean Batty rolled out the red carpet as the Veterans got an insider’s look at how the news is made.

The Veterans, from Erskine’s Reid Macewen Activity Centre in Bishopton, were invited for lunch and a guided tour of the studio, before being given a glimpse of production ahead of the afternoon’s four-minute news bulletin.

STV wouldn’t let them leave empty handed either, with the Veterans being gifted their own personalised STV memorabilia, before rounding off the trip with visits to famous sets, including Coronation Street’s famous Kabin.

Evonne McCord, Activity Centre Deputy Manager said: “Our Veterans had a fantastic afternoon visiting the STV studios in Glasgow, and they were delighted to meet John and Sean after watching them on television for so many years.

“It was a real treat to see what goes on behind the scenes and it gave our Veterans a fascinating insight into what goes into making the news. Thank you to everyone that made the trip possible.”
