Erskine Veterans Charity Launches Spring Appeal

Erskine Veterans Charity Launches Spring Appeal

Help Fund a New Minibus and Name It Too!

Erskine Veterans Charity is hitting the road once again, launching a vital fundraising appeal for a brand-new minibus to join our beloved “Shuggy the Shuttle.” Thanks to the incredible generosity of supporters like you, Shuggy has been a lifeline for our Veterans since 2021—now, it’s time to give Shuggy a companion!

For many of our Veterans, accessible transport is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. Whether it’s getting to essential hospital appointments or simply enjoying social outings with friends, our specially adapted minibuses ensure that no Veteran is left behind. Since its arrival, Shuggy has clocked an incredible 26,500 miles, taking Veterans across Scotland.

With every journey, our Veterans embrace new adventures, creating cherished memories—from fish and chips by the seaside, cheering at football matches, and exploring museums to attending the world-famous Royal Edinburgh Tattoo. But we need your help to keep these unforgettable moments alive.

Now, we need to raise £65,000 to bring a second specialist minibus to Erskine, ensuring that no Veteran misses out due to limited transport availability. This new addition will help facilitate around 2,500 trips per year, making an immeasurable difference to the lives of those who served our country.

We want you to be part of this journey! Just as Shuggy the Shuttle was named through a public vote in 2021, we’re inviting supporters to suggest a name for our new minibus. It could be inspired by Erskine’s rich history, a personal connection to military service, or simply something fun and uplifting.

Submit your entry at www.erskine.org.uk/minibusappeal by 28th March and let our Veterans choose their favourite. The winning name will become a part of Erskine history, bringing joy to Veterans for years to come.

Erskine Chief Executive Ian Cumming said: “This minibus is more than just transport—it’s a gateway to independence, connection, and joy. Without our supporters, we simply couldn’t provide this vital enabler of our services. Every donation, big or small, helps ensure our Veterans continue to live full and active lives.”

Donate today and help make Veterans’ wishes come true. To contribute or enter the naming competition, visit: www.erskine.org.uk/minibusappeal
