Erskine hosts Bowls Scotland Team

Our partnership with Bowls Scotland is going from strength to strength as we continue this invaluable relationship. We were delighted to welcome many of the Bowls Scotland team to our Bishopton home, where they had the chance to learn more about the work of Erskine Veterans Charity and, most importantly, spend quality time with our Veterans.

The day included a lively Try Bowls session, where around 20 residents gave it a go -delivering the bowl, aiming for cones, and testing their skills in a fun and relaxed setting. The session ended with an all-hands-on-deck game to see who could get closest to the jack - sparking plenty of laughs, a bit of friendly rivalry, and some impressive shots!

Bowls Scotland is the national governing body for lawn bowls, representing over 800 clubs across the country. As part of their commitment to community outreach, inclusion, and wellbeing, they’ve been working to make bowls more accessible to people of all ages and abilities. The sport is not only a great way to stay physically active - it also promotes mental wellbeing and social connection.

For our residents, many of whom are living with life-changing conditions or mobility challenges, the opportunity to try something new, get moving, and share stories with new friends made a big impact. Bowls is a wonderfully inclusive sport, and the team from Bowls Scotland made sure everyone could take part and feel involved.

We’re proud to be working alongside Bowls Scotland to bring more of these meaningful, active experiences to Veterans across Erskine.
