Today Erskine Veterans Charity joins the worldwide celebrations to mark International Nurses Day.
Honouring the birth of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, International Nurses Day 2024 is themed “Nurses Make the Difference," highlighting that nursing is not a calling or a vocation but a highly skilled, safety-critical profession. Nurses are experts, leaders. And this Nurses’ Day, will be demonstrating the remarkable difference Nurses make to so many lives each and every day.
At the Erskine Veterans Charity annual conference on Friday 10th May Erskine Director of Care, Derek Barron said: “The profession of nursing faces many challenges but nurses work tirelessly for those requiring nursing. Nurses play an essential role in providing care and support to people in their time of need. The diverse range of care offered is reflected in topics our speakers bring to the conference podium today.
He continued: “With the dedication and commitment of Nurses we can ensure that people, in our case residents, receive the best care and support possible. And it is with this in mind we join in the worldwide celebrations on International Nurses Day to show our appreciation for the dedication and commitment of nurses everywhere.
The Erskine Conference invited Erskine Registered Nurses and Senior Care Assistants to join the activities of the day with keynote speakers of Erskine Trustee Maria Docherty and Graham Gardner, CEO of Ardgowan Hospice. Addresses throughout the day covered topics such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, palliative care, head injury protocol and person-centred leadership to name but a few. All designed to ensure the day was not only interesting but positive and stimulating
