The Erskine Reid Macewen Activities Centre has registered its 300th member to the Centre and we are delighted to introduce you to Stan.
Royal Navy Veteran Lewis Stannard (83), known as Stan to his friends, is the 300th member through the doors at ERMAC. After hearing about the centre a few months ago, from his friend Fraser, Stan felt ERMAC would be right up his street, a great place to keep him active around like-minded folk.
Just as Fraser thought Stan is thoroughly enjoying the Centre’s range of activities. For Stan one of the deciding factors in coming along to the Centre was for company and he certainly has fitted right in and is enjoying the company of his fellow Veterans.
Ever the sailor for 45 years Stan has sailed all over the West coast of Scotland in his wooden boat enjoying every minute of this adventures. Now however he has opted for a bit more comfort and traded his boat in for a campervan which he uses to travel all over with. He says he’s been away 56 days this year in his van.
Stan was surprised to hear about ERMAC as he only knew of Erskine as the provider of care homes for military. Needless to say he is more than impressed with the Centre and the Veterans Village as a whole as he never realised the grounds were so lovely and so big!
His great sense of humour is going down well with everyone and we are very pleased he decided to give the Centre a try.
