Co-op Local Community Fund helping Veterans

Just by buying a pint of milk shoppers can now support Scotland’s Veterans after the Erskine Reid Macewen Activities Centre (ERMAC) was nominated for the Co-op Local Community Fund.

Until 22 October 2022, Co-op members can choose to raise funds for Erskine every time they shop. For every £1 members spend on selected branded products and services, 2p will go into their membership account to help Erskine provide vital support to Veterans living in the community.

The Erskine Reid Macewen Activities Centre provides an invaluable service to Veterans, with specialist recreational support and social opportunities provided by a dedicated team of staff. ERMAC aims to enhance the quality of life and wellbeing of Veterans by teaching new skills and providing the chance for Veterans to meet up and engage with others who have shared experiences and history.

The funds raised through the Co-op Local Community Fund will allow Erskine to pay for a professional tutor to deliver weekly classes at the centre.

To collect rewards and contribute to Erskine you must be a Co-op member. Set your cause to Erskine Reid Macewen Activities Centre in the members section of the Co-op website and then swipe or scan your membership card when shopping.

ERMAC Manager Deb Dickson said: “We are delighted to be involved in this project. The benefit the wellbeing classes will bring to our Veterans is immeasurable and I would thank to all our Co-op shoppers for their support. It is amazing a simple thing like buying your weekly shop can help the centre so much.

“Choosing the Erskine Reid Macewen Activities Centre as your cause will to help us provide the support to our Veterans. Wellbeing classes will bring together Veterans with shared experiences, allowing them to seek support within a safe environment which in turn will have a positive impact on the wellbeing of vulnerable Veterans within our communities. Those who are experiencing social isolation, loneliness and mental health challenges particularly benefit socially, recreationally and educationally.”
