John from Inverness, who is rowing five million metres on his rowing machine to support Erskine, has been visiting Tesco stores in Tain and Dingwall.
After three tours of Bosnia John returned to Civvy Street to work in security and delivery for Tesco. So Tesco stores have been his choice of venue for this epic rowing challenge.
John, who is the grand old age of 80, has been delighted by the support he has had from the public. He said: “During this hot weather I have been supplied with lots of ice lollies and cones and also much appreciated bottles of water. All from members of the public. I can’t thank the very kind customers of Tesco enough for looking after my health during this hot weather. My special thanks to baby Kayleigh who is only eight weeks old, her mum Anna and also to Trudy. Just some of the names I remembered”.
Erskine’s Community Fundraiser, Jim Watret said: “It’s an honour that John is supporting Erskine with this incredible challenge. John speaks very passionately about his time in the Army and his various charity work over the years. I’m sure his rowing challenge will be a great spectacle for people to come and watch, especially with the strong link to the Service community throughout the Highlands. John’s phenomenal efforts will help us to continue to support almost 1,000 Veterans each year through our accommodation, activities and employment.”
John will be collecting funds at his public rowing session on 25th/26th/27th August at Victorian Market Inverness.
