What a weekend!
After one of its busiest weekends of the year Erskine Veterans Charity has a big thank you all who made the weekend such a roaring success.
Starting on Friday, we were once again the charity partner of the Ideal Home Show Scotland, as we have been since 2013. What a privilege, and as in the past the honour of cutting the official opening ribbon of the event went to an Erskine Veteran. This year Erskine Activity Centre Veteran Stevie Wyllie was so proud to be asked and to be part of the opening parade. Our special D-Day landing craft setup, complete with a beach, backdrop, hedgehog spikes, and military vehicles, to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day on June 6th, proved very popular with the many people of visited the Erskine stand.
The Erskine Bike Meet followed on Sunday. This time with the very first Bikers Bungee Jump, which thrilled the watching crowd. The event, now in 18th year, started with a dazzling motorbike parade led by vintage cars and hundreds of bikes which were cheered into the Village by the crowds lining the driveway which included service men and women of Royal Artillery, 7 Scots Company and 102 Field Squadron.
The day was filled with fun and laughter as the Veterans Village filled up with visitors coming along to enjoy the hundreds of bikes, the exciting inflatable village and the many stalls providing food, drinks, live music, entertainment and shopping for all.
The weekend was amazing, every single minute of it, but we couldn’t have done it without you! Everyone at Erskine would like to thank all who made it possible, your generosity and support are invaluable, thank you.
