Performer and Broadcaster
Jamie MacDougall, one of Scotland’s leading artists, has built a distinguished career as both a performer and broadcaster. Born in Glasgow, his singing has taken him across the world, from the Sydney Opera House to Covent Garden, while remaining a proud and regular collaborator with Scottish Opera.
With a discography of over 45 titles, Jamie’s recordings span opera, classical, and folk. Since 2001, Jamie has been ‘Scotland’s Voice’ for classical music on BBC Radio Scotland, regularly presenting for BBC Radio 3 and anchoring BBC Proms in the Park from Glasgow. Passionate about sharing his love of music, he now teaches at St Andrews’ Laidlaw Music Centre.
During the pandemic, Jamie crowdfunded a film at the King’s Theatre in Edinburgh to mark Sir Harry Lauder’s 150th birthday. Jamie is honoured to be an Ambassador for Erskine Veterans Charity, raising funds for Erskine from his Lauder performances.
My dad served in the Royal Artillery during his National Service. It was a time he looked back on fondly, sharing his many stories over the years. I’m honoured to be an Ambassador for Erskine and I hope that I’m able to make some contribution to the amazing work that takes place there and around the country every day for our amazing veterans.
