Wing Commander Ian Cumming served in the RAF Regiment for 27 years – leading multi-skilled teams to provide safe homes and support to British Forces and local communities around the world. He was awarded his MBE for operational excellence and transformational leadership. He subsequently held Director of Development and Trustee roles with regional social care charities, before becoming Deputy Managing Director of a large UK commercial homecare company.

Ian joined Erskine Veterans Charity in 2018. Since then, he has led the charity not only during the pandemic, but subsequently through a complex lean transformation programme to make Erskine more efficient, sustainable and relevant to Veterans communities across Scotland. Echoing his military career, Ian remains honoured to lead highly efficient multi-disciplinary teams who provide safe homes, care and community support for Veterans and their families – facing different challenges, post-Service.

Ian is a Veterans Scotland executive committee member and he chairs their Health & Wellbeing Group. He is also the Third Sector representative on two Scottish Government Armed Forces & Veterans working groups.
